Star architects’ dazzling condos are snagging big bucks. But so are towers by Miami’s best

JDS Development Group certainly did not rush when deciding which architect would guide their latest Miami Beach development. After a lengthy and thoughtful search, the residential real estate developer hired Jean Nouvel, the Pritzker Prize-winning French architect whose glassy and modern aesthetic was judged to be perfect for the Miami site. According to JDS principal Simon Koster, his team chose Nouvel because of the architect’s ability to fuse nature with an urban setting. The project, dubbed “Monad Terrace,” benefits from the unique attributes of its location, as well as Nouvel’s sensibility, and building renderings show off the metallic structures draped in vines centered around a verdant lagoon. As development in Miami continues to boom, Monad Terrace will remain at the head of the pack, thanks to Nouvel’s powerful vision.
